The history of Smowltech is connected to reality

It all started when an Erasmus student returned to Spain
exclusively to take some exams.
He was a student of our founder at Smowltech.
This situation pushed him to investigate how to avoid this displacement.

1994

Ricardo Vea is the HR director in a company and detects problems in training his workers. "That's where I started to see that technology would tremendously help the training world."

2010

During this year, he works in cybersecurity. He sees that he can apply it to identification and monitoring to know who is on the other side of the computer in the academic and certification fields.

2012

The development of our biometric system to facilitate identity verification begins. In this period, we test the educational needs from within to adapt as best as possible to them.

2018

We receive a grant from the European Horizon 2020 program, and our international expansion begins. Today our clients are in 17 countries on 5 continents, and we communicate in 8 languages.

Since 2020

We grow exponentially. We have begun to be included in prestigious business environments such as the Top 100 LATAM Edtech startups, according to HolonIQ, and the Top 14 Spanish startups in cybersecurity, according to Business Insider.

SMOWL, from the company Smowltech, stands out among the facial recognition programs. The idea is simple: monitor the student's steps during an online exam.

After integrating SMOWL into our online campus, our students registered through a simple process of checking that their computer camera was working and then taking three photos with it.

SMOWL is the Spanish tool that prevents students from cheating in online exams. It allows for maintaining the same integrity and quality of face-to-face exams.
