My professional profile is a mix of technical aspects (software development), business, and product. My education began with a double degree in Business Administration and Management + Computer Engineering. Later, I continued evolving in technical aspects oriented toward cybersecurity and data protection by taking a Data Protection Officer course and a Master’s Degree in ICT Security. Finally, I advanced into the product world by obtaining the Product Manager certification from Product School.
After going through various internships and work experiences during my university years, in 2014 I joined the Smowltech team (at that time consisting of 3 people) as a web developer. Being a startup with such a small team, my duties were very diverse, taking on commercial tasks (client meetings, presentations, demos…), marketing-related activities (social media, web design, visual material design…), and of course, web development. During my first years at Smowltech, I contributed to the development of the entire product, including the core of the product which is the exam monitoring system, the results dashboards with the evidence provided to clients, integrations with LMS, and various internal applications.
From 2019, as the team grew, I focused more on the technological and product aspects, gradually assuming the management and leadership of that area as the company’s CTO. My role as CTO consists of tasks from various fields that could be summarized as follows. First, aligning the product roadmap and technology to achieve product objectives and the growth we seek, taking into account technology and building robust, quality systems. Second, providing a strategic vision on how product and technology should evolve. Finally, managing the development team, taking into account aspects such as capacity, people management, and professional growth, among others.
In addition to all this, I also assume the role of DPO, being the person in charge of working on all aspects related to the security and data protection of the product. This part of my responsibilities also includes managing implementations with clients from a GDPR perspective, clarifying any doubts they may have, collaborating with their teams (lawyers and other DPOs), and helping to conduct impact assessments.
If I had to describe my personal interests, I would start by talking about sports since it’s something that occupies a large part of my time. Sport is one of the main activities that helps me disconnect from day-to-day life and, although it may seem contradictory, to rest better. I practice many sports (as an amateur) but all of them have to do with nature and the outdoors. Going to the mountains both for walking and climbing peaks is one of my passions. There’s nothing I like more than planning a challenging activity and finishing with the reward and personal satisfaction of having achieved it. In addition to this, I also practice climbing, both in indoor climbing walls and outdoors when the weather permits. Besides this, I also practice running, signing up for numerous races to stay in shape, and lately also some trail running. In the summer season, I love the sea and whenever I can, I practice diving or scuba diving. Finally, in the winter season, whenever possible, I practice skiing, which among all the sports mentioned, is one of my greatest passions.
I like to share all these hobbies, whenever possible, with my family, friends, and especially with my dog Blue, who never fails in any activity related to mountains, climbing, or trail running. Blue is a greyhound rescued from an abuse situation, and thinking about more social aspects, I always try to collaborate as much as possible with greyhound rescue associations, mainly through solidarity purchases.
Last but not least, I also like to spend time at home enjoying movies or series, since after so many activities, more relaxed moments are also needed.
Any of the points mentioned above, I like to always share with my family and friends, as everything is enjoyed more when accompanied by the people you love and who contribute to your life.
